I just recently read a book that deals around some of those issues, essentially it is saying life is so complex that you never can know the full scope of a particular issue, especially with things involving many people, different approaches, changing situations.. and no time to investigate them all, in a way it is not about getting all the facts (even though facts help for sure), but it is to know where ones principles are and stick to them. The book even has a wiki entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Habits_of_Highly_Effective_People
